Renaissance Project

SchoolCenter Picture

The La Marque ISD Design Team composed of parents, students and community members is now in the planning stages of implementing a Math, Engineering, Technology and Science Renaissance Project that is spear-headed by the district's College Readiness Project Director. Under the Renaissance Project, La Marque ISD will construct academy schools that will focus on one or all four themes of C-STEM with college readiness standards and career pathways integration. Academy schools will have a unique theme or focus conceived to attract students and parents for the primary goal of creating a representative student population. La Marque ISD is located in a highly industrial area, which puts us in an ideal position. There are four major industries located within a 10 mile radius of the city of La Marque; Dow Chemical, Valero, Marathon Oil, and British Petroleum (BP), and 15 miles north of La Marque in Galveston, Texas there is the nationally renowed University of Texas Medical Branch.

The Renaissance Project is a major component of our secondary school change reform initiative.  Since this is a revised initiative based on the METS Academy that was proposed in 2010, the Design Team would like to solicit input from all members of the community.  Your input will allow us to gather additional information about how individuals feel about implementing a magnet school that will focus on career pathways for our students and offer new innovative teaching methods, strategies and programs with new highly qualified teachers.

The following survey questions were designed by our committee of teachers, parents, students and community members.  Your immediate feedback is appreciated.  Please answer yes or no and feel free to make comments.

Please assist La Marque ISD by completing the Renaissane Project Survey.
